VALVE REPAIR GUIDE
Why Is My Sprinkler Valve Box Full of Water?
Some moisture in a valve box after irrigation does not automatically mean the valve itself has failed. Persistent standing water deserves a closer look.
Common Causes
- A leaking valve body or diaphragm
- A cracked fitting or pipe connection
- A valve that does not close completely
- Water entering the box from a nearby irrigation leak
- Poor drainage around the box
Do Not Replace the Valve Just Because the Box Is Wet
Run the system and watch where the water originates. A pipe connection can leak beside a perfectly good valve.
When the Zone Also Stays On
If water continues flowing through the sprinklers after the controller stops the zone, valve diagnosis becomes especially important.
